residential interior design

Why do we only focus on designing aesthetically pleasing homes? A home provides us with a sense of belonging, comfort, security, and stability. It is your retreat after a long day at the office. It’s the place you have made countless memories in with your beautiful family. Homes are sacred – your personal space that encompasses all of your happiness and sadness. It is an essential aspect in your overall well-being, which is why it’s so important to me to make sure that when you walk in the door, you do not want to leave.

Design in homes is personal. Sure, a commercial or retail location still focuses on emotional strategies by utilizing colors and textures that invoke your reactions but your home is where you spend most of your days. Your home can be anything and everything you want it to be. As an Interior Designer, my goal (along with a million other things) is to create a space where your personality can shine. To create a place that is an extension of YOU.

Together we will create the ultimate space by creating a design that reflects your personal taste by identifying exactly what those tastes are. Identifying your character will go a long way in the process. Are you bold, adventurous, whimsical, minimalistic? Think about places that you have traveled that are still in the back of your mind. What about those places were so captivating? Was it the architecture, the color palette, the textiles? Do you love the ocean, do you enjoy reading, or playing sports? There are so many different elements of you, the consumer, that should be factored into the overall design plans for your sanctuary.

What is the most important aspect of creating a home exclusively catered to who you are? Honesty. I’m sure you’ve heard of the phrase, “smoke & mirrors”. With the overwhelming amount of content on social media, especially now in home design, it’s common to easily get caught up in what we think is a beautiful, functional home. Or you may be swayed by what an ‘expert’ insists looks good. Staying true to who you really are and being honest about what you actually like will invoke that sacred feeling of being ‘home’. Creating a home that reflects your style, will feel great to be in.
